Hello! Thanks for reading our blog! Actually, as a museum we are not allowed to place a value on items. We usually suggest that people contact the Appraisers Association of America at http://www.appraisersassoc.org/. I'm sure there are appraising organizations in England, but we are not able to recommend any. Though maybe someone at the Appraiers Association could recommend someone to you. Good luck and thanks for reading!

Good Morning,
I own an original Paisley Shawl which is woven wool. It measures about 6' x 12'. It is in good condition, though has a few little holes.

Is it possible for you to tell me roughly what it is worth as Id like to sell it?

I live in Southern England and appreciate your time and effort in repling to me. x

Stephanie, those really are dolls from old L.S. Ayres Christmas windows, but not from the 1950's...more likely from the 80's. The window, just like the L.S. Ayres Tea Room, is filled with artifacts from the Indiana State Museum collection. I don't believe we have any objects from Blocks at this time.

Are those manniquins in the photo foreground really be those from the old L. S. Ayres in the 1950s? If so, why doesn't the Museum even acquire the ones from Blocks Store?

Thank you Paul, the event is a lot of fun and gets better every year. Although several animals are adopted at the event, many of the rescue groups have an adoption process that takes a little longer, so it's hard for us to track exactly how many critters get adopted thanks to the event. Groups also use this program as a chance to recruit volunteers, educate the public on different breeds and network amongst themselves.

Next year, we'll be beefing up our wildlife component too. We'll talk about what do if you find an injured animal and how to better enjoy wildlife that you might find in your own backyard. Hope you can make it down!

Dear Davie: delighted with finding your blog. Steele's writings, life and paintings especially seen through Selma's eyes and pen speak to me as way of living life as art and knowing the core of Brown County. It first starts in the earth, thanks for what you do with the base at the site. P Sebert
